I can't play movie files.

Plexflix must convert movie files from .strm.avi files (which Plex can scrape but not play) to .strm files (which Plex can play but not scrape.)  This will happen automatically if:

  1. 1.Plex has successfully scraped the movie.strm.avi files.

  2. 2.Plexflix is still running 20 minutes after pressing 'Create Queue'.


I get the error 'Could not determine input format.'

I can't play Hulu episodes with adult content.

You need to log in to Hulu using Safari.  This is a requirement of Hulu and the Hulu Plugin for Plex.  To do so:

  1. 1.Open Safari on your Plex computer.

  2. 2.Go to http://www.hulu.com .

  3. 3.Log in (upper right hand corner).


A TV Show / Movie in my queue isn't showing up.

The most common issue is that Plex was unable to scrape the TV Show or Movie properly.  This usually happens when the name or year in Hulu or Netflix doesn't match the information in IMDB or thetvdb.  Go to IMDB or thetvdb and search for the show.  Make a note of the exact title and year that is entered into the website.  Then follow these steps in Plex to resolve the issue:

  1. 1.In Plex, navigate to your Videos section, then go to your Plexflix Movie or TV folder, then highlight the name of the TV show that didn't scrape.

  2. 2.Press 'i'.

  3. 3.Select 'Reload'.

  4. 4.You should be presented with a selection screen.

  5. 5.If you see the proper Movie or TV show select it. If you don't, choose Manual and type in the name exactly as you saw it in IMDB or thetvdb.


Some of my TV show episodes don't scrape correctly or are mixed up.

Yep.  Netflix, IMDB, Hulu and thetvdb have different numbering systems.  Frequently they match.  Sometimes they don't.  Your best bet is to adjust the episode name by hand.  There is an idea I have which would help compensate for this, but it likely won't roll out until after Plex 0.9 is released.


Netflix doesn't seem to be working.

To reset Netflix try the following:

  1. 1.In the Finder go to the 'Go' menu and select 'Utilities'.

  2. 2.Open 'Keychain Access'.

  3. 3.You will see two or more items named 'api.netflix.com'.

  4. 4.Delete them all.

  5. 5.Quit 'Keychain Access'.

  6. 6.In Plexflix press 'Create Queue'.

  7. 7.Safari should now open and ask you to log in and validate Plexflix to access your Netflix account.

  8. 8.Log in and validate Plexflix.

  9. 9.In Plexflix press 'Create Queue' one more time.
